(there is an alarm fitted for, say, a child, and the door can be opened from outside) window faces garden. An ornate door opens to the bed-sit which has a wood burning stove, small window to the garden and French doors out to the driveway where the (still functioning) bread oven is immediately on the left. Following out, right to the front, there is a store-room before the steps leading up to the front door. Out to the left through the iron gates, the next door opens to a useful work-room, benches and tool storage (this was the first pig-sty). Next was the second pig-sty, but this was dismantled and a pergola now replaces it, this looks down on the garden and has step down to the rear patio and cantina door, there are further steps to the garden and an 'English-fence' curves to the barn. The house, is in the old quarter of Pucciarelli, 2 Km from Lake Trasimeno and 5 Km from the major town of Castiglione del Lago, where all main facilities can be found. The lake is a very popular resort. Just across the lake near Tuoro, in 217BC, the Battle of Trasimene took place. The Roman General, Flaminius with about 25,000 soldiers of the Roman Army was in pursuit of the Carthaginian invaders.
